Domestic Abuse Awareness Programs in Houston

Let us help you find the path to safety while confidentially answering your questions.

Attendees of AVDA’s domestic abuse awareness programs in Houston will understand what exactly domestic abuse is, and how to identify it. There are many misconceptions surrounding domestic abuse. The most popular fallacy is: “If there isn’t violence, it isn’t domestic abuse.” This is far from the truth. Sexual pressure, threatening with money, and acts of control (even if not physical), are all signs of domestic abuse that are often overlooked.

AVDA’s domestic abuse educational awareness programs in Houston help prevent domestic abuse by counseling and teaching individuals in the community and helping initiate respectful relationships free from abuse.

Benefits of AVDA’s Outreach and Domestic Abuse Awareness Programs

AVDA educates both adults and youth. For adults, AVDA offers training for different groups including justice workers, corporations, veterans, healthcare providers, Child Protective Services agents, and pro bono attorneys. Depending on your industry, AVDA’s outreach team can customize a presentation ideal for your organization.

For the youth, AVDA hosts three educational awareness programs for domestic abuse. Safe Dates is a nationally-acclaimed domestic abuse awareness program designed to prevent dating violence that might occur in a middle-to-high school relationship. AVDA’s Teen Abuse Prevention Program is an educational domestic abuse presentation that addresses the warning signs of teenage dating abuse and family violence. The Coaching Boys into Men violence prevention program is designed to educate young male athletes, through the instruction of their coaches, about the importance of respect for themselves and others, specifically females.
